Falco rusticolus (Gyrfalcon) genome, bFalRus1

QatarOther genomic researchRepository record

The Gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus) is the largest species of the falcon family (Falconidae), which are birds of prey. This assembly has been produced as part of a collaboration between Al-Gannas Qatari Society-Qatar Falcon Genome Project, G10K-VGP and B10K projects and Monash University Malaysia. The sample was provided by Farooq Al-Ajli (Qatar Falcon Genome Project), and the project was sponsored by Al-Gannas Qatari Society, Qatar. The sequencing was coordinated by Qasim Ayub and conducted with Pacific Bioscience long reads and Illumina short reads at the Novogene Sequencing Centre. Bionano optical mapping and 10X Genomics libraries were sequenced under supervision of Olivier Fedrigo at the Vertebrate Genome Laboratory, (VGL), The Rockefeller University, New York. Chromosome conformation capture (HiC) was performed at Arima Genomics. Genome assembly was conducted by Farooq Al-Ajli at Monash University Malaysia Genomics Facility, supervised by Sadequr Rahman and Qasim Ayub in Malaysia and by Olivier Fedrigo and Arang Rhie at VGL using the VGP 1.6 pipeline. The primary haplotype was assembled to chromosomes, whereas the alternate as contigs only. The raw data and assembly are currently under a G10K-VGP publication embargo until removed from this description, following the G10K data use policy at the following URL:https://genome10k.soe.ucsc.edu/data-use-policies/

Repository interpretation

The accession and its GCC connection are verified. Registration alone does not establish that the broader research programme remains active.

04 / Evidence and provenance

Why the record is included.

Inclusion basis

Exact country-name match in authoritative NCBI BioProject metadata; repeated submissions are grouped into one Atlas series.

Editorial note
