The Gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus) is the largest species of the falcon order, which are birds of prey. This assembly has been produced as part of the G10K-VGP, B10K, and Qatar Falcon Genome Projects. Sequencing was conducted with Pacific long reads in Qatar by Qasim Ayub; Bionano optical maps and 10X Genomics libraries at the Rockefeller University Vertebrate Genomes Lab led by Olivier Fedrigo; HiC at Arima Genomics, and Illumina sequencing. Genome assembly was conducted by the Olivier Fedrigo and Farooq Al-Ajli, and supervised by Arang Rhie, using the VGP 1.6 pipeline. The primary haplotype was assembled to chromosomes, whereas the alternate as contigs only. Funding and coordination of the genome was provided by Qasim Ayub.
The accession and its GCC connection are verified. Registration alone does not establish that the broader research programme remains active.
