Saudi ArabiaPathogen genomics and infectious diseaseRepository record

HBV genotypes and serotypes are associated with the severity of liver disease in patients in the Jazan area of Saudi Arabia. In addition, certain genotypes and serotypes are more strongly associated with advanced liver disease, including cirrhosis and HCC, compared to others.General objective:The general objective of this study is to investigate the role of HBV genotypes and serotypes in the severity of liver disease in patients in the Jazan area, Saudi Arabia. The study aims to determine whether certain genotypes and serotypes are associated with more severe liver disease, including cirrhosis and HCC.Specific objectives:1. To determine the prevalence of HBV genotypes and serotypes in patients with liver disease in the Jazan area of Saudi Arabia.2. To assess the association between HBV genotypes/serotypes and the severity of liver disease patients in the Jazan area.3. To investigate the relationship between HBV viral load and liver disease severity in patients with different genotypes and serotypes.4. To evaluate the response to antiviral therapy in patients with different HBV genotypes and serotypes in the Jazan area of Saudi Arabia.5. To identify the HBV MiRNA and LnRNA at the whole-genome expression level.6. To sequence the whole genome in HCC with or without HBV infection

Repository interpretation

The accession and its GCC connection are verified. Registration alone does not establish that the broader research programme remains active.
