Complete Genome Sequencing of the Mezayen Arabian Camel(Camelus dromedarius)
This project aims to sequence and assemble the first complete male Mezayen camel genome, utilizing a sample from Hakaman, a distinguished camel from the farm of Mr. Mohamed bin Abdullah Alfassam in Wadi Aldwaser, Saudi Arabia. Notable for placing second in the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival's Majaheem beauty contest in December 2019, Hakaman was chosen due to his esteemed genetic lineage. This project seeks to enhance the understanding of camel genomics, reflecting the cultural and socio-economic significance of the Mezayen camel in the Middle East, particularly in the Gulf countries.
