IGF-1 SNPs in colorectal cancer

Two single nucleotide polymorphisms rs35767 and rs6214, in the IGF-1 gene have shown an association with circulating levels of IGF-1 and/or risk of cancer, however, these associations were inconsistent. We aimed to determine the circulating levels IGF-1, IGFBP-2, and IGFBP-3 in a sample of CRC patients and control subjects. We also aimed to assess the genotypic and allelic frequencies of SNPs rs35767 and rs6214 and their association with circulating levels of IGF-1 and the risk for CRC in our study cohort.
