QPHI Pan-Arab Genomes and Genotyping Array Initiative

Saudi ArabiaUnited Arab EmiratesQatarKuwaitBahrainOmanHuman health and population genomicsPlanned / proposed

Combines a large Qatar reference panel with genomes from across the Arab world to build population-specific genotyping and imputation tools.

01 / Project overview

What the record establishes.

Geographic scope
Qatar plus 19 other Arab countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates
Project type
Regional population-genomics and tool-development initiative
Research domain
Population reference genomics, genotyping and imputation
Years
Not stated
Lifecycle status
in development
Status basis
The current QPHI project page documents the genomic input panel, array-design objectives and manufacturing partnership, but does not state that the array is operational.
Status evidence date
2026-08-15
Scale
More than 14,669 Qatar whole genomes plus more than 2,946 genomes from 19 other Arab countries.

02 / Organizations and population

Who and what the project connects.

Lead organizations
Qatar Precision Health Institute · Qatar Genome Programme
Partner organizations
Qatar Foundation · Thermo Fisher Scientific
Organism / population
Qatar population and participants from 19 other Arab countries

03 / Data and access

What exists and how it can be reached.

Data types

  • whole-genome sequencing
  • genotyping array
  • imputation panel
  • allele frequencies
  • whole-genome reference panel
  • SNP array
  • population structure

Data access

Tools and programme information public; individual-level genomes controlled

Identifiers

No public accession or identifier is listed for this record.

04 / Evidence and provenance

Why the record is included.

Inclusion basis

Current regional genomics initiative explicitly representing every GCC state.

Editorial note

Likely a child/translation layer of Qatar's national precision-health ecosystem. Merge with a duplicate Qatar record during release build. Input genomes overlap QGP/QPHI. Country count language on the page is internally awkward: it says 19 other countries but lists 20 names including the UAE; retain the official aggregate of 2,946 without asserting a corrected count.
